The White House let Jones go after conservative Web sites and Fox News revealed his radical past, including signing a petition circulated by far-left conspiracists suggesting the government was behind 9/11.

But soon after hiring Jones, top Obama aide Valerie Jarrett celebrated his appointment, along with his radical activism, before an audience of liberal Democrats.

“We were so delighted to be able to recruit him into the White House,” she gushed in a C-Span video. “We’ve been watching him for as long as he’s been active.”

Jarrett, a senior White House official and close Chicago friend of the Obamas, added that they were impressed with “all the creative ideas that he has.”

Those creative ideas include using the green movement as a Trojan horse to socialize the entire economy.

“The green economy will start off as a small subset” of a “complete revolution” away from “gray capitalism” and toward “redistribution of all the wealth,” Jones said during a 2008 interview on leftist Uprising Radio in Los Angeles. “And we are going to push it and push it and push it until it becomes the engine for transforming the whole society.”

“Transforming” society from capitalism to communism, is what he means. In fact, Jones is a self-avowed “communist,” something the Oakland street agitator confessed to the East Bay Express in 2005. He even named his son after a Marxist revolutionary leader. This was no secret.

Jones founded a communist group called Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement. Storm worked with Bay-area communist Elizabeth Martinez, who sits on the board of the Movement for a Democratic Society with Weathermen terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn, the radical couple who launched Obama’s political career from their Chicago townhouse.

Jones, 40, later folded Storm into the Ella Baker Human Rights Center. The White House even credited him with co-founding the center in a March press release announcing his appointment as special adviser to the president. “We look forward to having him work with departments and agencies to advance the president’s agenda.”

Did Jones slip through the cracks of the White House’s vetting process, as defenders say? Not likely. His radicalism was clear just days before his appointment.

As WorldNetDaily first reported, Jones spoke in February to young green activists attending Power Shift ’09 in Washington, spewing more revolutionary agitprop: “This movement is deeper than a solar panel! Deeper than a solar panel! Don’t stop there! Don’t stop there! No, we’re gonna change the whole system! We’re gonna change the whole thing! . . . We want a new system!”

Jones’ anti-police activism and advocacy on behalf of cop killer and death-row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal were also well known.

His idea to use government funding to build “a pipeline from the prison economy to the green economy” — including hiring parolees to weatherize homes and offices — dovetails with Obama’s proposal, cited in his 2006 memoir, to create government-subsidized green jobs “to hire and train ex-felons on projects” such as “insulating homes and offices to make them energy-efficient.”

Both Jones and Obama claim the justice system is biased, due to the disproportionate share of blacks in prisons.

In 2006, as head of the same Ella Baker Center praised by the White House, Jones argued that Marxists must seek ways to emancipate black criminals from prison.

“Two million locked up, one million black, most of them young men, smoking the same dope you smoke, doing the same drugs that white folks do, but treated like animals and brutalized. It’s the right deed for this movement to take now: to stand in solidarity with those people living on the slave ships on dry land called prisons,” Jones wrote in the leftist Tikkun magazine.

“The powerful are trafficking in human flesh today,” he continued. “They’re trafficking in human bodies. The correctional corporations of America are traded on the stock exchange, turning the Dow Jones into a high-tech slave auction in American (sic) today. Let my people go.”

“We need a new theology of resistance,” he went on. “We need a new theology of liberation.”

All this leads us to wonder: How many more people of such radical ideology now have jobs in the White House?

How many of the unvetted cadre of White House czars — who don’t have to be approved by the Senate, yet in some cases may have sweeping powers — likewise hate the very system they’re supposed to serve?

Jones was an extremist. Unfortunately, rather than being an aberration in this White House, he just might be the tip of a very large iceberg.

(From Accuracy in Media)

By Cliff Kincaid

If the Van Jones resignation is blamed on his statements about Republicans and 9/11, a great lesson will have been lost. As we argued in a previous column, “It’s the communism, stupid.” If people don’t recognize the dangers of having a communist in the White House, then the nature of the scandal will not have been understood. Blogger Trevor Loudon of New Zealand broke the story on April 6 and has some thoughts on what happened and where this story is heading.

His main point is that Van Jones and Barack Obama share the same Marxist ideology and background. Obama, however, is more careful and clever.

There’s an old saying, “If you don’t know where you’re going, it doesn’t matter which road you take.” As Trevor Loudon argues, Jones and Obama know precisely where they’re going. And the Jones resignation doesn’t mean that Obama will take a detour from the road that he wants to take the country on. Indeed, as Loudon explains, they are both on the same road.

The development of the scandal, which was seized upon by World Net Daily, Glenn Beck and other media outlets and personalities, began in Loudon’s research into the existence of communist networks. Loudon blogs at www.newzeal.blogspot.com A compilation of his most important articles on Jones can be found here.

Loudon tells me, “I began to investigate Van Jones after seeing several separate pieces of information. I first came across the name in the mid 1990s in a New Zealand socialist publication which had a small clip about Van Jones-a Yale educated lawyer involved in STORM-Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement. The name stuck.”

While researching the far-left think Institute for Policy Studies (IPS), which Loudon considers the Obama administration’s “ideas bank,” Loudon found a piece by IPS staffer Chuck Collins recommending Van Jones for a top government job. A September 26, 2008 article, posted on the IPS website by Chuck Collins, offered 22 names they thought would make suitable appointments for an Obama administration. He included, “Van Jones, of the Ella Baker Center, to direct the Commerce Department’s new ‘green jobs initiative.’”

Remember that this was before the election.

“I researched Jones again at that point and found he was a fellow at the Center for American Progress,” Loudon says, referring to the George Soros-funded entity.

Then a few days after the election he found a statement from former Weather Underground terrorist leader Mark Rudd, who was trying to ease fellow leftists’ concerns at some of Obama’s so-called “moderate” or “conservative” appointments, mostly in the economic realm. Rudd declared:

“Obama plays basketball. I’m not much of an athlete, barely know the game, but one thing I do know is that you have to be able to look like you’re doing one thing but do another. That’s why all these conservative appointments are important: the strategy is feint to the right, move left. Any other strategy invites sure defeat. It would be stupid to do otherwise in this environment.

“Look to the second level appointments. There’s a whole govt. in waiting that [John] Podesta has at the Center for American Progress. They’re mostly progressives, I’m told (except in military and foreign policy). Cheney was extremely effective at controlling policy by putting his people in at second-level positions.”

Podesta was co-chair of the Obama-Biden Transition Team.

When Jones was appointed “Green jobs Czar” in March 2009 at the White House Council on Environmental Quality, Trevor got serious. His first article about Jones’ communist connections appeared on April 6, prompting me to file a series of Freedom of Information Act requests into the question of who recommended and hired Jones. I reported the results, which amounted to Obama Administration stonewalling, in an August 25 column.

Loudon explains how relatively easy it was to ascertain the basic facts about Jones: “It didn’t take more than a few keystrokes to realize that STORM was very influential in the San Francisco Bay Area and had ties to both the Cuban and South African Communist Parties. Jones’ group-and particularly Jones himself-had ties to two former Weather Underground supporters-Jon and Nancy Frappier and the Bay Area branch of the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism. Jones was the keynote speaker at a CCDS fundraiser in Berkeley as late as February 2006.”

This Bay Area branch of the CCDS is basically the same “alliance” of former Weathermen, 60s Maoists and modern communists who supported Obama in Chicago, Loudon explains.

Explaining more of the connections, Loudon goes on, “Two of Jones’ Bay Area radical friends, Betita Martinez (a former Maoist and CCDS member) and Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz (a former Maoist and one-time Weatherman supporter), served on the board of Movement for a Democratic Society, along with Weather underground leaders Mark Rudd and Bernardine Dohrn.”

He adds, “Obama’s old friend Bill Ayers was also involved, as were leaders of CCDS, including Angela Davis, who works with several Bay Area STORM alumni, leaders of the Communist Party USA, Democratic Socialists of America and several Institute for Policy Studies trustees and personnel, including E. Ethelbert Miller, Barbara Ehrenreich and Bill Fletcher Jr. The last two are members of Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) and founders in 2008 of Progressives for Obama.”

Obama’s socialist backing goes back at least to 1996, when he received the endorsement of the Chicago branch of the DSA. Our February 14, 2008, AIM Column, “Obama’s International Socialist Connections,” explains all of this.

Now that Jones has resigned, Loudon says that “the focus needs to go on who hired him and why an easily identifiable communist revolutionary with a police record could serve as a presidential adviser.”

He explains, “The Obama administration boasted of its extreme vetting procedures, so I find it unlikely that if a blogger from New Zealand could identify Jones as a communist militant that the White House didn’t know.”

In terms of the evidence about who recommended and hired Jones, Loudon says that the focus that Accuracy in Media has put on far-left Oakland Democratic Rep. Barbara Lee is correct, since she was “almost certainly complicit in getting Jones hired.” Lee is chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, was a presidential campaign adviser to Obama, and is a friend of Jones and Obama. Jones and Lee worked together on “green jobs” in Oakland.

At the same time, Obama’s “brain” Valerie Jarrett is on tape as saying “they” have been watching Jones for years and were happy to recruit him. Since Jarrett is in the White House, “the spotlight must go on Jarrett,” Loudon argues. “But eventually it must come back to the president himself.”

He explains, “Jones and Obama have worked with the same people all the way.”

For example, Loudon notes that “In 1999 Obama was called to New York to set up a left-wing think tank called Demos. He served for a time on the Demos board of trustees. Jones is still listed a member of the Demos board. Demos is a partner organization to the Institute for Policy Studies and also works closely with ACORN and Project Vote-names very familiar to any Obama watcher.”

Explaining the rise of Van Jones, Loudon says, “Seven years ago Van Jones was a Bay Area Alinskyite street communist. After hooking up with the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, Democratic Socialists of America, former ’60s Maoists, Weather Underground supporters and Demos, he managed to land a job in the White House.”

By comparison, “Twenty-two years ago Barack Obama was a Chicago Alinskyite ‘community organizer.’ After hooking up with the Committees of Correspondence for Democracy and Socialism, Democratic Socialists of America, former ’60s Maoists, Weather Underground supporters and Demos, he managed to land a job in the White House.”

Just a coincidence?

Loudon concludes, “Jones’ resignation is a blow for the left and a victory for freedom, but it is only the beginning in unmasking a whole series of White House radicals. They may not have been as loud mouth and indiscrete as Van Jones -but that makes them more dangerous, not less. Millions of Americans now have some inkling of what is happening to their country. Now is the time to amp up the pressure and research.”

Read the three articles below, then ask yourself the question: What does this say about Obama?

(From The Right Perspective)

Despite having announced his resignation as so-called “Green Czar” in the Obama Administration, admitted Communist and self-described “rowdy Black Nationalist” Van Jones will reportedly continue to work for the White House.

“He [Van Jones] continues to work for the administration,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters Friday when asked about the infamous activist.

Gibbs struck a different tone Sunday after the announcement of Jones’ resignation was released earlier that morning at 1am.

“What Van Jones decided was that the agenda of this president was bigger than any one individual. The president thanks Van Jones for his service in the first eight months,” Gibbs said on political show This Week.

“So the president doesn’t endorse, in any way, the things that Van Jones said before, the things he did?” asked host George Stephanopoulos.

“He doesn’t, but he thanks him for his service,” Gibbs said.

Some conservatives grouse that Jones will work in a shadow or unofficial advisory capacity for the Obama administration, to further its “green agenda” without the white-hot heat that has been generated over his past.

Even if Jones does not continue in an official capacity in the Obama White House, many people with close ties to him will. Obama confidant and senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett has openly praised Jones and hand-picked him for the “Green Czar” position. FCC “Diversity Chairman” Mark Lloyd shares many of the same beliefs Jones holds, and has openly praised Communist dictator Hugo Chavez for seizing privately-owned radio stations and media in Venezuela.

Jones Resigns Over What?

(From Newsbusters.org)

By Joshua Sharf

Powerline nicely summarizes the problems with (now former) Obama Administration official Van Jones:

Who do they have in the White House? A self-proclaimed Communist. A vulgar Marxist twice over. A supporter of cold-blooded cop killer Mumia Abu Jamal. A 9/11 Truther . A racist hater, whose hatred extends to the United States. And insofar as his current job is concerned, we have a man who sees the “green jobs” con as a tool for overthrowing capitalism. We have, in short, the complete left-wing nightmare package.

So naturally, the Denver Post hasn’t yet printed a word about the (now former) Green Jobs Czar. The Washington Post and New York Times, would-be papers of record, finally got around to covering the controversy just in time for Jones to resign. As with the Eason Jordan affair, readers’ could be forgiven for not knowing that there even was a problem, right up until the moment that the (nor former) advisor resigned.

Of course, those outlets that are now covering the resignation are basically whitewashing the problems with Jones. Here’s the AP, as carried by the Washington Post:

Jones, an administration official specializing in environmentally friendly “green jobs” with the White House Council on Environmental Quality was linked to efforts suggesting a government role in the 2001 terror attacks and to derogatory comments about Republicans.

”Derogatory comments” is one way of putting it. Calling them “a**holes” is another. Jones wasn’t just “linked to” efforts (note the passive voice). He actively linked himself to them by signing an online truther petition. ABC News’s Todd Connor is even more circumspect (audio not available online):

Van Jones decided to leave in light of recent questions surrounding a racially tinged speech and a petition he signed which questioned the official version of the 9/11 attacks.

Plenty of speeches are “racially tinged.” Few rise to this level of American self-hatred:

The American way, manufactuered by these white folks in office. By these rich men here to mock us. The United States is a stolen land led by right-wing, war hungry, oil thirsty. And when it’s all said and done they still can’t clean their own place because they got people of color playing servant to do that sh*t for them… The true terrorists are made in the US, in this police state… The US is a crack-fiend for oil. And they’re ready to rape, kill, assault, rob anybody and everybody…

And plenty of people have questioned the official version of 9/11. I’ve noted that having Jamie Gorelick sit in judgment on the 9/11 Commission was pretty close to the ultimate fox-guarding-the-henhouse moment. That’s a little different from asking whether “high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the attacks to occur.”

Again, readers may be forgiven for wondering what all the fuss is about.

In fact, Obama has merely victimized himself here, by a (now former) Tsar System that end-runs around Congressional vetting, and has been victimized by a press corps sleeping-walking through life. The two are not unrelated.

Axelrod’s Disturbing Revelation

(From American Thinker)

By George Joyce

When asked on NBC’s “Meet the Press” whether Barack Obama had ordered the resignation of green czar Van Jones, White House senior advisor David Axelrod retorted:

“Absolutely not — this was Van Jones’ own decision.”

Axelrod’s answer is telling. His defiant tone suggests that the thought of firing Jones had never been entertained by President Obama, thus protecting Obama’s image among the radical left. On the other hand, Axelrod’s response might be the product of a special arrangement with Jones – a man who probably knows more than we do about some of Obama’s deepest convictions.

Most disturbing however is what seems to be Axelrod’s indignation at the mere suggestion that Obama would ever decide to fire Jones.

Doesn’t this say something about our president?

“They are spreading fear and they’re trying to see that the first president who looks like me — fails.”

“People look at the United States as a country that has changed it’s way and elected someone from Kenya and Kansas, I’ll put it like that.”

KABC’s Michael Linder was the only broadcast reporter at Thursday night’s town hall health care debate at Wade AME Church when Rep. Diane Watson [D] made some astonishing comments including claims that those opposed to health care reform are attempting to destroy a president “who looks like me.”

Later, Watson praised heath care in Fidel Castro’s Cuba — and, it seemed, the Cuban revolution itself.

The statements aired exclusively Thursday night on KABC’s The John Phillips Show.
