From the McAllen Tea Party
In some of these posts over the past few months, we told you about some of the information being taught in our public schools. Some of you were skeptical.
Well, this should really shock you as it did one of the school board members who objected to the reading and to one of the teachers in the meeting. He just hung his head apparently in shame, then walked out of the meeting.
On Glenn Beck’s radio program this morning, an excerpt from a Tuscon school board meeting was played wherein a young woman read portions (including page number references) from a book used in the Controversial Ethnic Studies Curriculum for grades 3 through 12.
This seemed to be an emotional reading for the people attending the meeting so we researched it to find the actual video.
We found it.
References to “Blood-sucking Capitalists”, the “F” word, “S—”, and “BullS—” appear to be used quite extensively throughout the book.
Caution: This video contains language you may not want to hear! But, that’s kind of the point, isn’t it? Should the “offensive” language in a public school textbook be censored in a public meeting but not in the classroom? What about the kids?
I’m thankful that this young woman cared enough to review the textbook and then had the courage to confront the school board.
What are our kids and grand-kids being taught?
Shouldn’t we be more involved in our kids’ education?

Why would liberals in general, and Jewish liberals in particular — given the Jews’ singularly horrific history at the hands of other human beings — react so strongly against someone who wrote that people are not basically good?

Barack Obama is the nation’s first-ever Affirmative Action President. It should come as no surprise that President Obama’s pick for Attorney General, Eric Holder, would dispense Affirmative Justice.
Affirmative Action, simply put, seeks to correct past negative discrimination with positive discrimination. Call it “racial preference,” “employment equity,” “smiley-face discrimination,” or whatever, but Affirmative Action is basically a form of government-sanctioned discrimination that favors a particular group of people on the basis of some quality other than merit. This is not necessarily bad. Private employers do it all the time. My own father hired me on the basis of some quality other than merit – namely, the fact that I was his son. But he was not forced to hire me on the basis of some arbitrary federal quota, goal, or “guideline.” Such coercive measures are inevitably harmful both to people and institutions. The rule of unintended consequences applies.
NOTE: More frightening news from across the border.
Hey, Valley Democrats: How many American citizens will have to die before our southern border is secured? Five? Fifty? An even thousand?

MEXICO CITY — Mexican marines found the dumped bodies of 72 people at a rural location in northern Mexico following a shootout with suspected drug cartel gunmen that left one marine and three suspects dead, the Navy reported late Tuesday.
The cadavers of 58 men and 14 women were found at a spot near the Gulf coast south of the border city of Matamoros. It appears to be the largest drug-cartel body dumping ground found in Mexico since President Felipe Calderon launched an offensive against drug trafficking in late 2006.

The “Me Generation” was cute until it got in charge.
The “Greatest Generation” came home from fighting and suffering in World War 2 and gave birth to the “Baby Boom.” Like most children, these “Boomers” rebelled against their parents’ values, like honor, duty, and sacrifice. It was the ’60s, and the old fuddy-duddy ways of doing things were frowned upon by the new generation. The “Boomers” were going to have a good time regardless of the consequences.
If the Greatest Generation made a mistake, it was that they loved their children too much. They would always be there for their kids — didn’t matter if it was paying for a broken window from a sandlot baseball game or bailing them out when they were caught posting graffiti. Thus, they taught their kids that responsibility was someone else’s problem. And it began to show in every aspect of American life.

The spring semester of 1968 at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, was a time of tumult and tragedy. As students, we were enlightened by such notable visitors to campus as John Kenneth Galbraith, Saul Alinsky, Robert Kennedy, Julian Bond and Eugene McCarthy. And then, on April 4, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was shot down in Memphis.
A consequence of the death of Dr. King was an immediate nightly curfew in Nashville, where National Guard troops were quickly bivouacked around the renowned replica of the Parthenon in Centennial Park. It was no little shock for us to see tanks and APCs in the park, which was only three or four blocks from the university’s campus.
As the curfew went into its second night, it was apparent that it was being enforced only in the areas surrounding Fisk University and Tennessee State University; in other words, only African-American neighborhoods were being affected by the curfew.

Stalinism” is a useful term for the totalitarian left — even to the left itself. It’s one word they haven’t been able to chew up, gulp down, and transform into its opposite. They still know what “Stalinist” means, even after generations of new names for the same community agitators: “The New Left,” “hippies,” “Black Panthers,” “youthful radicals,” “idealistic students,” “feminists,” “the workers,” “black nationalists,” “Third World socialists,” “the wretched of the earth,” “Green Party,” “Gay activists,” “LGBT,” “Global Warming,” “peace and freedom party,” “eco activists,” “civil rights campaigners,” “post-modernists,” “gender studies,” “J Street,” “Bolivarismo,” “ACORN,” “undocumented workers,” “Moveon.org,” “Liberation Theology” — there must be hundreds and hundreds of front labels for the Same-Old, Same-Old. They make up new ones all the time. This year’s fashionable lefty cult is called “progressivism!”
Will Commissioner Melissa Zamora, Commissioner Ricardo Longoria, or Mayor Pat Ahumada put forth a resolution condemning Rhode Island for doing pretty much what Arizona wants to do?
What’s that you say, Commissioner Melissa Zamora? You don’t know what I’m talking about, Commissioner Ricardo Longoria?
I keep coming back to the same thoughts about Brownsville City Commissioners who want to condemn Arizona. Have commissioners read the bill they are “condemning?”
For example, this is how it reads on the agenda:
18. Consideration and ACTION to adopt Resolution Number 2010-035, condemning recently enacted Arizona SB 1070, which permits Arizona state officials to inquire into the immigration status of any individual based on “reasonable suspicion”.
The bill is not about “state officials” inquiring. It’s law enforcement who pull some one over in a “lawful stop, dentention, or arrest.” If they are going to use the mainstream media and open-border arguments, at least focus your complaint against the so-called evil and racist police officers who will use any excuse to target you.
Let’s say the two co-sponsors and the other commisisoners did read the bill. The Arizona lawl targets human smugglers and traffickers. Does our city commission endorse human smuggling through their condemnation of Arizona? Does our city commission endorse the sex slave trade? Here is a video discussing the evils of human trafficking in our own nation that Arizona is trying to combat.
Finally, you have to laugh at how our commissioners are so willing to forget their own words:
“But, I won’t waste my time on constant negativity, because in doing so, I would be neglecting the positive. I have many positive projects, and like I said, I won’t be distracted from TRUE City business.” (What appeared on Commissioner Melissa Zamora’s Facebook wall less than a week ago.)
How exactly is what is happening in Arizona “TRUE City business” much less a positive image for our city, Commissioner? She refused to discuss the negative image of our city’s mayor arrested for suspected driving while intoxicated, but she does believe she and her fellow commissioners must opine on issues in Arizona. Their priorities are simply awesome.
The Brownsville City Commission plans to vote on a resolution “condemning” the Arizona anti-illegal immigration law SB 1070 which was amended as HB 2162.
Commissioners Ricardo Longoria and Melissa Zamora placed the item on the agenda. They apparently do not have the wherewithal to boycott Arizona as other municipalities. They will instead “condemn” them for their allegedly inhumane and uncivil law.
According to Hot Air.com, Los Angeles voted to boycott Arizona over their anti-illegal immigration law, but California has a very similar law already in their own penal code.
Well, why does California have to call it out, [Los Angeles City] Councilman Ed Reyes? Kerry Picket [of the Washington Times] did a little digging and found this nugget in Section 834b in the California Penal Code:
(a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status. (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States. (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity. (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.
Will these city commissioners amend their own resolution and condemn California for their racist law that “expands racial profiling” and that the California law is ”out of step with the rules of basic civility and humanity.” They had no trouble saying that about Arizona.
Since California has had this law in their books, has racial profiling increased in California? Or is there something in Arizona that makes those officials more prone to be racists and profile more than Californians?
The City of Brownsville has enough issues in our own community than for our elected officials like Ricardo Longoria and Melissa Zamora to waste the people’s time with resolutions condemning other entities for their actions. It is not a sign of a positive city when some focus on unnecessary negatives but willfully ignore negatives that truly concerns and affects the City.
No matter where you stand on the issue of illegal immigration this type of grandstanding is unbecoming of elected officials.
In response to the SB 1070 and HB2162 bashing, border city Douglas, Arizona or any city or political subdivision in Arizona should heretofore submit resolutions opposing Brownsville and others who have or plan to introduce resolutions condemning or boycotting Arizonans for their law that will attempt to force out illegal immigration.
It’s come to a point, however, where the facts of the law do not matter. It’s is just what the media, open-borders caucus, and the fearmongering leftists . It reminds me The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance. “This is the West, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend.”
A Resolution Opposing Brownsville’s Unnecessary Grandstanding
WHEREAS, the City of Douglas in the Great State of Arizona, is a city located on the border not in-between the United States and Mexico, but firmly in the United States, and has long maintained shared heritage, tradition, and friendship as well as close economic and familial ties with the rest of the United States and with the legal residents and citizens thereof; and
WHEREAS, the City of Douglas recognizes the unique and unnecessarily complicated issues of policies involving illegal immigration within the border region and throughout the entire United States due to familial and economic issues; and
WHEREAS, the City of Douglas has been made aware of simpleminded, kneejerk reactionism by the City Commission of the City of Brownsville, Cameron County, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brownsville claims to be located in a no man’s land between two countries by the language in their resolution, “the City of Brownsville, a city located on the border between the United States and Mexico;” and
WHEREAS, the location of the border issue has been previously settled by Brownsville City Commissioner Anthony Troiani when in an open meeting he declared, “The North won the war;” and
WHEREAS, the Brownsville City Commission is composed of current and former drunks, arrested drunk drivers, puppets, ecostalinists, open-border one-worlders, and one highly qualified disc jockey; and
WHEREAS, the residents of Brownsville, Texas more often than not complain of the lack of adequate and prompt services such as road repair and sufficient security; and
WHEREAS, the Brownsville City Commission cannot even keep their own cars from being broken into during a city commission meeting, probably by an illegal alien; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brownsville has Freudian penis envy of the City of McAllen, Hidalgo County, Texas but refuses to take the necessary steps to emulate them and their pro-business environment; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brownsville recognizes the unique and complicated nature of immigration policies within the border region and throughout the entire United States due to familial and economic issues; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brownsville opposes any law which brings the potential or likelihood of violating the civil rights of individuals by expanding racial profiling and which brings the increased probability of separating families by increasing arrests, deportation, and detention of individuals; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brownsville believes any such law to be out of step with the rules of basic civility and humanity; and
WHEREAS, the City of Brownsville supports the just and humane treatment of all those who enter the United States;
Section 2.
This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law.
PASSED AND APPROVED, this the 18th day of May, 2010.

Texas State Representative Debbie Riddle (R-Tomball) found herself in the middle of a firestorm the other day after she gave an interview to an obscure left wing talk show host in Houston. An attorney named Geoff Berg hosts a weekly talk show called Partisan Gridlock on station KFPT which, just like Berg’s politics, is on the far left end of the FM dial. KFPT is affiliated with the notoriously radical Radio Pacifica network. For an idea of where Berg and KFPT are coming from, just look at a few of the programs on the station’s schedule: Queer Voices, Proyecto Latino Americano, Uprising, Arab Voices, Nuestra Palabra and Voz de la Tierra.
Berg was interviewing Rep. Riddle about her call for a crackdown on illegal immigration. Rep. Riddle has promised to introduce legislation this year that will be very similar to the recent bill passed in Arizona; in other words, she wants a law on illegal immigration that will actually be effective. During the interview, Berg employed a typical left wing tactic – he prefaced his question with “Without making it a racial issue…”, and then proceeded to bluntly make opposition to illegal immigration into a racial issue.
