Beat Back Barack
By William L. Gensert
There has been much talk lately about the need for the Republican presidential nominee to move to the center. This is a mistake. The only way to beat Barack Obama is to oppose him rigorously, relentlessly, and without remorse.
This election needs a fiscal, foreign policy, and economic conservative. The man to defeat Obama must present the nation a clear choice between further socialism under Obama’s control or prosperity through economic freedom, but that’s not all; he will need to show the world who Barack Obama is.
Americans may be inattentive, or even self-involved, but we are not idiots. Anyone can see the almost three years of failed Obama governance and know that the meme which the legacy media is trying to sell is a lie. Obama is not just a failure; he is a spectacular failure — and it’s not George Bush’s fault, or that of an obstructionist Congress.
Newton Leroy Gingrich wants your vote. Unfortunately for him, he has to lug around baggage he’d really like us to forget. Well maybe we will, but not just yet.
Bag 1
Freddie Mac is one of the wildly corrupt government-subsidized lenders responsible for igniting our current economic woes. In 2004, President Bush correctly diagnosed its problem as a serious lack of oversight, and tried to pass some reforms. The Democrats in Congress blocked it (naturally). In 2006, John McCain warned of the impending economic apocalypse, while the Republican Congress was picking up where Bush left off, trying to get FM under control. And what was Newt doing? Newt was working as a lobbyist for Freddie Mac, to the tune of $300,000. He also was quoted as saying that FM was a “solid business model.”
Bag 2
In the 1990s, Newt led the fight to stop HillaryCare. But in 2005, he started cozying up to its author, dedicated socialist and national disgrace Hillary Clinton, the most corrupt first lady in our nation’s history. He appeared with her at a press conference that year in support of-are you ready for this-healthcare legislation!
The New York Times later had this to say:
“ . . . Mr. Gingrich has been talking up Mrs. Clinton’s presidential prospects in 2008, to the chagrin of conservative loyalists who once regarded him as a heroic figure (emphasis mine). Last month, he even suggested she might capture the presidency, saying ‘any Republican who thinks she’s going to be easy to beat has a total amnesia about the history of the Clintons.’” (On occasion, the New York Times accurately reports the news.)
“But he’s so smart!” Are you sure? It gets worse.
Bag 3
In this link, you can watch the commercial he made with another dedicated socialist, Nancy Pelosi, who actively promotes environmentalism for no reason whatsoever except to spread Marxism. When I saw this on television, my jaw dropped to the floor! Note at the bottom of the ad a line appears that says, “Paid for by the Alliance for Climate Protection.” “What is the Alliance for Climate Protection?” you ask? It’s an organization “committed to educating the global community about the urgency of implementing comprehensive solutions to the climate crisis” and it was started by another dedicated Marxist, the climate-fraud-pedaling, mentally unbalanced Al Gore. The president and CEO for the Alliance for Climate Protection is professional leftist Maggie Fox, who is the past national president of America Votes, another Marxist organization that promotes socialism through election fraud. Not smart, Newt.
Bag 4
Newt suffers from what is sometimes called “wandering eye.” Others call it, “lusting after women you aren’t married to.” He currently is on his third marriage. I suspect the only reason he bothered to marry again was to create a more palatable candidacy, and to shield himself from the questions that would surely come.
At age 19, Newt married his first wife Jackie Battley, his high school geometry teacher. (She was 26.) While married to Jackie, he hooked up with Marrianne Ginther, divorced Jackie & married Marrianne. While married to Marrianne, he took up with House staffer Calista Bisek, 26 years his junior, and divorced Marianne to marry Calista. Their affair went on during the Lewinsky scandal, as Newt led the investigation of Bill Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice on account of his philandering. Nice.
Newt explains his chronic cheating by saying he worked too hard. Maybe a good night’s sleep would have been better. I guess the reason most of us don’t cheat on our spouses is because we don’t work very hard. Of his presidential bid, he has said, “. . . the American people will have to decide whether that’s [his moral lapses] their primary concern. If the primary concern of the American people is my past, my candidacy would be irrelevant.” Given the fact that past actions are good indicators of future actions, I would say “irrelevant” pretty well sums it up.
Now that he has converted to Catholicism, he speaks eloquently about God’s forgiveness. The message being conveyed is that he has repented, and God has forgiven him; And if God has forgiven him, why shouldn’t we? I can forgive him, though I don’t see any need to. He didn’t do anything to me. He hurt his first two wives & his children. He should seek their forgiveness, not mine.
Has anyone ever noticed that when slick politicians get caught doing the wrong thing, they claim to have received God’s forgiveness in order to mingle two entirely different & separate issues. Forgiveness is one issue. Fitness to lead is quite another, and they have nothing to do with each other. If you feel you should forgive Newt, by all means do it! But the crucially relevant question is, is he morally competent to lead our great nation? To answer that, ask yourself this question: If his wives can’t trust him, how can I?
If Newt gets elected, and gets caught up in his old ways, there will be no press cover ups. They will go after him on this, and every thing else like starving, rabid dogs. Does this make anyone nostalgic for the humiliating years of the Clinton presidency?
Hello? What about having a first lady who clearly has no more respect for marriage vows than her husband? Imagine a spectacle like that for a minute or two, and ponder the notion that for all of Newt’s great intellect, maybe he just isn’t presidential material.

Last November 20, I drove to San Antonio to attend the second Texas TEA Party Summit. Leaders of TEA Party groups from across the state were in attendance. Colonel Deering would have gone, but he had a doctor’s appointment that Saturday and could not attend.
I’m not going to go into a great amount of detail. I took notes and listened very attentively, but most of what was said had to do with Texas House Speaker Joe Straus and is not very high on our priority list. Ousting Joe Straus is important – do not get me wrong – but we in south Texas had been focused on the Congressional election and , of course, the election for County Judge. To be honest, I had not heard of Joe Straus until I read about him on Facebook.
Seems like all information roads lead to Facebook.
Overall, the Summit was eye-opening and very informative. I had no idea how many different TEA Party groups there were in Texas. It is a HUGE phenom in Texas, folks. One of the TEA Party leaders I met represents 30 such groups in East Texas ALONE. I wish that someone had thought to write down all the TEA Party groups represented at the Summit. I should have, but it was all I could do to keep up with the flow of information. I should also have livestreamed the event, but thought it would have been presumptuous and frowned upon. Next time, perhaps.
I’ve stated before that we should be careful what we wish for. Those of us who work in quasi-governmental jobs could wind up losing our jobs, benefits, and/or retirement pensions if we suddenly roll back 100 years of Progressivism in government.
Millions of Americans are addicted to the opiate of government. For some, it is a problem that spans generations. Simply removing the steady IV drip-drip-drip of subsidized health care, welfare, unemployment, retirement, and so on would be a huge shock to our system.
I’m not saying that it should not be done. We just need to be careful and realize that this is a long-term goal.
The Election’s Done; Now What?

A little bird told me about a post on a local blog about Blake Farenthold. I’m reposting it here, in its entirety. -Chris

Editorial: Thoughts on the Blake Farenthold Campaign (against incumbent Solomon P. Ortiz); ED MISHOU – this is the independent candidate.
Blake Farenthold — there are many red flags regarding his candidacy. Many are unconfirmed reports that have been obtained via a dialogue with with voters and players and specialists. Many in the Corpus Christi area are familiar with the Farenthold family history and the fact that they were largely responsible for getting Solomon P. Ortiz elected to the 28th Congressional District 28 years ago. Many feel that family connection may still be there.
Farenthold did not enter the race until the last minute and some believe it was just to keep William “Willy” Vaden, who was running against Ortiz in the previous elections from posing an even bigger threat this year. Some, who have known Farenthold since his childhood, are very leery of his past ethics and honesty. His campaign rhetoric is based on generalities with little substance. Evidence of his campagin activities in the southern part of the district is very shallow and the anecdote is that he has written off all but his small core group down there which is for all intents and purposes to write off Cameron County and that is tantamount to writing off the election. The latter adds some credence and weight to the thought that he only entered the race to keep Vaden out.
Farenthold only won the runoff election by a very small margin. Many seem to think he has done little to recover those voters who did not support him. There remains, I understand, a lot of ill-thought and suspicion regarding his conduct during the primary and runoff elections. There seems to be a lot of smoke and some observers are confident that beneath it all there may be some fire but it is not too obvious to pick up on and tap into it successfully.
If Ed Mishou (a well-like independent who is nimble minded and has a hefty base) was not in the race, running as an independent, Farenthold would more likely not score any better, or even as well, than Vaden did in the last two, but with Ed Mishou in the game, Farenthold might just drop to third. A memory lingers during the Republican Primaries. Vaden walked up to Farenthold, and then addressed the audience jestingly: “Do you want a ‘poodle’ like Farenthold or someone… (or someone that will be assertive in this campaign?)”.
Finally, why would the Republicans voters select a candidate with absolutely no qualificaitions or experience over the other two more viable candidates?

Our Socialist Democrat Rep. Solomon P. Ortiz has been invited along with all of the candidates for the Dist. 27 seat in Congress representing us to every debate in this election go-around. To date, no one has heard from him. We can’t recall a U. S. House representative with less personal appearances before his(her) constituents, than has Ortiz exhibited. One would think that even those who support him would begin to entreat him to make a commitment, for once in this term, to show up before the people to make his positions known and to really make a better effort to get to know the people.
There is another debate for the three candidates scheduled at this time for Saturday, Oct. 2. It would be really gracious and considerate of him to bless we the people with his presence. And we don’t mean to float us a response through one of his serfs or to send a disciple to speak in his stead. Lately, we all got one of his very infrequent mailings full of his propaganda about his and his party’s accomplishments. Interesting, but hardly sufficient in terms of real communication. It just gives us more ammunition to fire back at him.
Regarding immigration about which Ortiz is on the wrong, Obama, side, a reading of Federalist Paper No. 2 by Founder John Jay addressed the dangers of foreign force and influence:
With equal pleasure I have as often taken notice that Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people – a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs.
Jay understood that perhaps America’s greatest protection against the threat of foreign manipulation was our overriding sense of unity as a people. Our founders insisted that immigrants be willing to embrace and adopt our values and principles. Political correctness fostered by Ortiz and his ilk are trampling this notion of unity in favor of “diversity.” That will surely enable our destruction. Ortiz needs to start representing ALL of us or get out!
More In Two Weeks

The Tip of Texas Tea Party is at a crossroads. Our fearless workaholic President, Sue Goldberg, will be passing the torch to someone else foolish er, courageous enough to lead us in the coming weeks and months. Ideally, that person should possess the following qualities and characteristics:
- Vision, has definite short-term and long-term objectives for the TTTP
- Engages, energizes
- Is trustworthy, forthright, open, honest
- Able to inspire people to work together to achieve realistic goals
- Can clearly articulate conservative principles
- Is acutely self-aware and empathetic
- Is accountable, “The buck stops here”
- Is accessible, personable, affable, friendly
- Is authentic, “Walks the walk”
- Is at the leading edge, leads by example
We should all express our deep gratitude to Sue for her selfless and tireless leadership over the past year. Without Sue, there would be no Tip of Texas Tea Party. It’s no fun being out front, especially when you’re surrounded by hostile democrats and other assorted leftists. Sue’s courage and able leadership is deserving of our utmost gratitude and praise.

Joe Lee Rubio should be on the ballot for the voters to decide if he should represent us. It shouldn’t be up to officials on the Texas Southmost College like David Oliveira to ban him from the ballot.
David Oliveira, the chair of the TSC Board of Trustees, said he believes that it is his responsibility to continue barring Rubio from the ballot.
“I like Joe Lee and I grew up with him,” Oliveira said. “Part of me feels he paid his debt to society, but as an elected official I have to uphold the election code, no matter what I personally think.”
There goes Pontius Pilate washing his hands. Rubio paid his debt to Mexican society. I know open border believers say we share the same society, but the United States and Mexico have difference sets of laws and customs. The Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo dictates the border is the Rio Grande River, hence Joe Lee Rubio’s argument he was not convicted in the United States.
