Last November 20, I drove to San Antonio to attend the second Texas TEA Party Summit.   Leaders of TEA Party groups from across the state were in attendance.  Colonel Deering would have gone, but he had a doctor’s appointment that Saturday and could not attend.

I’m not going to go into a great amount of detail.  I took notes and listened very attentively, but most of what was said had to do with Texas House Speaker Joe Straus and is not very high on our priority list.  Ousting Joe Straus is important – do not get me wrong – but we in south Texas had been focused on the Congressional election and , of course, the election for County Judge.  To be honest, I had not heard of Joe Straus until I read about him on Facebook.

Seems like all information roads lead to Facebook.

Overall, the Summit was eye-opening and very informative.   I had no idea how many different TEA Party groups there were in Texas.  It is a HUGE phenom in Texas, folks.  One of the TEA Party leaders I met represents 30 such groups in East Texas ALONE.  I wish that someone had thought to write down all the TEA Party groups represented at the Summit.  I should have, but it was all I could do to keep up with the flow of information.  I should also have livestreamed the event, but thought it would have been presumptuous and frowned upon.  Next time, perhaps.

(By A Concerned Citizen)

Earlier this week Chris Rowan removed a video blog post because it disappointed some in the Tea Party. I stand by what I said before about the video blog post. It was blogging at it’s finest.

His only mistake may have been not attaching his name to the post. Having a byline on a post should be enough for any reader that neither the Tip of Texas Tea Party organization or anyone other than the author approved the post. Think of it as a warning you would see at the beginning and at the end of a infomercial that the views express do not necessarily reflect the views of the television station.

With two bloggers now, he needs to do that to make sure everyone knows who is saying what. It is done at Hot Air. It can be done here.

Chris Rowan took the initiative to cut the video of James Duerr and researched some of what he said for the benefit of our readers. I was proud of him, but that doesn’t mean I agree with him. Since Chris’s apology I have thought long and hard whether I want to continue. I decided to continue. Now his apology was removed causing me rethink that decision too. I will continue to blog because frankly I believe thoughtful, diverse opinion is important for the growth of our organization.

Those who admonished Chris for his posts do not like what he did, then start blogging here. Defend your beliefs. Explain your beliefs. It’s the only way for us to grow without stagflation. We are not airing out our dirty laundry. We are expressing our opinions, of which we all have our own. We are not, I repeat, we are not a cult where we always have to agree.

The moment my posts are deleted for reasons other than I crossed the line will be my last day blogging here. Chris, like me, do not want to hurt the group. We will not purposefully slander anyone. We express opinion. That opinion we hope is based on sets of facts. We want to further democracy and freedom of speech and expression. If we are wrong, let us know. We are not out here to hurt anyone.

At the end of the day, whoever censored Chris needs to stop and start participating on the website. This website is an exceptional tool to reach more people especially those in Cameron County who want a voice and want to express themselves. Everyone is welcome to join and participate like I did.

Messages from TEA Party Patriots, Inc.

There is much talk of the formation of a third political party based on the tea party movement. In Florida, a Democratic operative with absolutely no connection to the tea party movement has filed papers to form a third party called the Florida Tea Party. He has issued legal threats against local tea parties demanding that they cease using the name “Florida Tea Party.

Support C-SPAN’s Call for Access in Health Care Debate

C-SPAN Chairman Brian Lamb has asked Congress to open access to the negotiations to C-SPAN cameras.

We agree. It is time to let the light shine on the health care negotiations. Let’s hold the President accountable. Let’s hold our Representatives in Congress, who have repeatedly said they will be transparent, accountable for their campaign promises.

We the People demand that they open the hearings on the health care bill to public scrutiny and comment by televising the full proceedings on C-SPAN.

Help us support C-SPAN’s call for access to the hearings through this Tea Party Patriots petition.

Sign the petition now by following this link:

 http://teapartypatriots.org/supportcspan

Forward this email or a link to the petition to your entire email list and ask them to sign the petition as well.  Change your Facebook status to: Support C-SPAN’s call for access. If you have other social media accounts like Twitter, LinkedIn, Plaxo, and MySpace, change your status there as well.

Call your Congressman’s and 2 Senators’ local offices and DC offices to tell them to open all health care hearings and negotiations to C-SPAN. Tell them you want no more back room, cover of darkness deals.

Thank you for your help in this effort. Together we can and will hold our elected officials accountable. Together we will work to let the light shine in on this process!

A Message and Action Call from Grassfire Nation:

They are doing it again… Reid and Pelosi are holding  secret, backroom meetings to put the final touches on ObamaCare. I’m done with government working in the shadows, away from public scrutiny.  See below.

-Steve

My staff has identified the key members of Congress that need to hear from you. Each one needs to be told repeatedly that the American people don’t like secrets, and won’t stand for more murky and sleazy backroom dealings. That is why we have to diligently use the time that remains to put the ENTIRE Congress on notice demanding these secret meetings be brought to light.

DavidHorowitzDavid Horowitz was one of the founders of the New Left in the 1960s and an editor of its largest magazine,Ramparts. He is the author, with Peter Collier, of three best selling dynastic biographies: The Rockefellers: An American Dynasty (1976); The Kennedys: An American Dream (1984); and The Fords: An American Epic (1987). Looking back in anger at their days in the New Left, he and Collier wrote Destructive Generation (1989), a chronicle of their second thoughts about the 60s that has been compared to Whittaker Chambers’ Witness and other classic works documenting a break from totalitarianism. Horowitz examined this subject more closely in Radical Son (1996), a memoir tracing his odyssey from “red-diaper baby” to conservative activist that George Gilder described as “the first great autobiography of his generation.”

A specter is haunting America – the specter of a people rising. All across the nation Americans are waking up to the threat of a leftist elite determined to fundamentally change America, push through a socialist agenda, and make every citizen dependent on the state. The Obama machine is spending trillions of tax-payer dollars to finance their takeover of the American workplace and stifle the independence of the American people. But America is resilient nation, built on the principles of private property and individual freedom, and the resistance to their socialist plans has already begun.

Brownsville Campaign Phase II Intro

Brownsville AMERICANS VOICE SILENT NO MORE Phase II

LibertyChick sez:

I recently finished creating a brochure / pamphlet for The 9.12 Project. It’s 8.5 x 11 and double-sided format with a vertical fold, to make it 4.25 x 11 when folded.

It displays the 9.12 Project snake and its numerical representation of the values and principles on the front (and continues across the back). And it asks “Are YOU a 9.12er”?

On the inside, it lists the 12 values, the 9 principles, and an introduction of The 9.12 Project and its purpose. In addition, the brochure briefly emphasizes the founding fathers’ intent for America’ system under “People’s Law” and defines the vertical separation of powers as defined by Thomas Jefferson (also listed on the back of the brochure). This helps to outlay the reasoning for less government, and more dependence upon personal responsibility and community in taking care of one another.

Please feel free to download, print and distribute freely as you wish!

The brochure is located on the 9.12 Project Member Resources page under the Original Graphics & Brochures heading. It is available in both .jpg and .pdf formats. Contact me directly if you need the Photoshop files instead.

Enjoy!

9.12 Project Brochure
Double-sided brochure, designed for standard 8.5? x 11? paper with vertical fold.  Prints best on brochure paper (semi-gloss) but works on any paper.  Formatted to print full-bleed; be sure to adjust your printer settings to accommodate the bleed (i.e. you may need to set all margins to 0?).  Download front and back images and print double-sided.

Founding Fathers

In the comment section of a recent post, I drew some fire for making the following, apparently shocking claim:

We [Americans] see America, from the Pilgrims who signed the Mayflower Compact to the Biblical scholars… who birthed the nation, to the spirit of sacrifice and charity that thrives to this very day, not as a nation of Christians (for that freedom is at the deepest core of our common philosophy) but as a Christian nation.

It seems that there is a growing belief that because our Founders were stalwart advocates for religious liberty, and because some of them had very nuanced and sometimes cynical views about organized religion, the United States was somehow conceived to be a secular nation. This belief is not only untrue, but detrimental to an adequate understanding of the underlying political philosophy of the founding, not least of all because it envisions the government as the nation instead of merely the organization through which the nation conducts its civil affairs, and more importantly because it betrays the singular belief that undergirds the entire American experiment: That the rights of man come not from government but from God.

When the Founders crafted the Constitution of the United States, they were not setting about to create a nation; they were setting about to create a system of government. The people of the United States had successfully waged war against Great Britain, formed alliances with foreign powers, brokered trade, and secured national debt before the current system of government was ever established. The Constitution merely created a system of administrative and judicial structures meant to represent the nation and to conduct the affairs of the people of that nation. This is perhaps best evidenced by the opening words to the document itself: “We the people of the United States… establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” The United States already existed. Its people created the Constitution to “form a more perfect Union… and to secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity.

Whenever I have a spare moment, I update content on the TTTP site.  This morning I incorporated a modified “Terms of Use” policy, changed the format of the site a bit, did some website housecleaning, and stumbled upon a VERY useful site:  http://libertychick.com .

I haven’t perused the entire site, but am very impressed by what I’ve seen so far:
